In my opinion the use of technology it is part of our daily life activities and as teachers we have to be able to take our times searching for the best tools and apps in order for us to include the ones that are suitable for our students level and content. We have to use these apps first and then invite our students to use them too. I found interesting on the video "The Pencil Metaphor".

I thought about my own case. What part of the pencil am I? I really like to use and learn about technology myself but to take it to the classroom it is quite a challenge. During the video she showed many web sites, apps and tools that can be part of our work as teachers. I consider that an effort for us, as teachers, to know and be in sharp about the use of technology in our classroom.
She also showed a chart about "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teachers Who Use Technology". I would like to share them with you ( all teachers who seek for information on the Web ) and if you have all these habits that means you are working hard to make your students love English ( or other languages) and instead of being afraid about technology you have the courage to try new things. I am trying to do that also.

Other topics that are mentioned during the video are:
Sharing Tools for teachers and students. To share face to face is a normal behavior and action we do every day but to share with the whole world (virtually) can be scary at the beginning if you put your mind into it. Can a simple post, picture or video be seen by the whole world? Well, it can take a while. Few days ago “Obama's anti-racism tweet after Charlottesville is most liked ever on Twitter ( according to the www.theguardian.com). More than 3 million people have endorsed the tweet, which quoted Nelson Mandela, after far-right rally in which woman was killed”, explained: Claire Phipps.  There is a connectivity power through these tools people use to share anything but in some moments what we share can reach a lot of people around the world. We are dealing with information from the people who is living it at the same moment. An instantaneous sea of pictures, videos, ideas. As teachers we can use tools like Twitter, Blogger and Instagram to share. Someone in somewhere might read my ideas or words and hopefully, can learn something new and share it! That is awesome!

Challenge or Learning. Many of the tools and ideas to work in the classroom have to be tested and the teacher has to take the time to learn, investigate and use himself the apps or websites. This responsibility of learning before bringing some idea to the classroom is a challenge. In Costa Rica many teachers prefer to have all the material to be given word by word. Teachers like to use and evaluate following the same structures as 10 or 20 years ago. Just the last year there was a change about the way to teach English. We have to be ready as teachers to learn more about these tools and option to accelerate the learning process and the accuracy of it.

All the information was explained by Olena Bilozerova.
This is my own opinion about the video and the ideas she shared.

  1. Hello everybody! Here there is my comment about the explanation on digital tools by Oleana Bilozerova. Even though she created a video that was quite long and little catchy, in my opinion, I truly believe it was a great idea to share all the websites, apps and other technological tools that she has used and that might be helpful for other teachers like us. We all know that the Internet is a whole world with a lot of sources and plenty of material about any topic we want to find. For this reason, it can become difficult to find the best websites and tools to our students needs. What I like the most about her presentation is that she made sure to include tools to enhance all learners' skills and she showed a great variety of resources. Out of those resources she mentioned, there are some that I particularly find them quite useful for my class; these are the professional use we can give to TWitter to make students interact and chat with relia, the vialogues for encouraging learners to speak and upload their performance, the quizzes generators that teachers can create and students can take their own too and the websites to improve pronunciation, which I think is one of the hardest aspects to teach students. Then, I think all of them can be of great help for both teachers and learners. Finally, I just would like to paraphrase the meaning this speaker gave to the word technology because I stronly agree with it. She said technology meant the advancement, methods and tool we, as teachers, use to solve problems or achieve a goal, so she emphasized the fact that any kind of tool we use should always depend on what we want to accomplish with our students. Therefore, we should always take this into account to always try to enhance students' learning.
